Internet Business Ideas from a job search problem

online business ideaRecently I had an internet business ideas from a text sent by a friend.

This is exactly what he sent.

Bust, how far, o boy e no easy o: I de Port Harcourt, trying to look for any sign that reads-architect for hire.

How are things at your end.guy, if you hear anything, hook me up. I will buzz you this night for yans.

It was written in a mixture of English and Pidgin English and basically said, it’s not really easy with me, I am in Port Harcourt looking for an architect’s job. If you hear of any opening where you are, let me know.

This text got me laughing especially the part that said, I am looking for a sign that reads –architects for hire.

I could imagine my friend moving on foot or driving around in a cab while stretching his neck to look for words on signs boards that read–architects for hire.

A few minutes after that, the entrepreneur in me jumped in.

Architects for hire?

Is there a website like that?

Right there, I knew I had an internet business idea.

What if I started www.ArchitectsForHire.com ,a market place for young architects looking for jobs and firms looking for architects to employ. Would it not have been easy for my friend to search for a job there and get hooked without any stress?

And he could have searched for it in any state of the federation.

I thought of other professionals in other fields?

Would they need a service like this?

Can I have www.DoctorsForHire.com , www.EngineersForHire.com and others? This would be a similar business idea from the first internet business idea.

What if I asked them to load their CVs and applications on the website?

What if I asked the doctors to pay a little sum to register or pay for text or email alerts when a new job position is registered on the site?

What if I asked the employers to do same?

What if I had a premium service that made a few people see the job positions before others by paying a little monthly fee?

That text my friend sent me just gave me a business idea.

An online business idea worth investigating.

I didn’t go on with the investigation but this post is just to explain how an offline problem can be solved with the internet.

And the different ways money can be made from it.

I would be much easier for job seekers to find a job if their employers and jobs were in one place online. (easy to find)

If there was such a service like www.ArchitectForHire.com , my friend would have easily searched the website for a job opening in any part of the country in minutes.

Fortunately, this idea can work for anything you normally search for offline.

So just think of something you usually search for offline, and then think of how you can make it easier for people to find it by creating a market place online for it.

by connecting demand and supply.

This is an online business idea from the problem of searching for a job.

Do your due diligence and research to see how viable the venture will be.

2 simple questions that can make you millions online(pt2)

In the last post i talked about  part 1 of the mini series-2 SIMPLE QUESTIONS THAT CAN MAKE YOU MILLIONS ONLINE.

The concluding part and the 2nd questions is:

HOW MANY PEOPLE ARE YOU HELPING OR HOW MANY PEOPLE ARE YOU GOING TO HELP?

So ask your self, ask your business, ask your website, ask your ideas.

How many people will need your help, how many people will need your product or service?

Generally speaking, if your idea or business cannot help a substantial amount of people, then it won’t get you far.

Note I didn’t say your business must help every one or is for every one-it just has to be for a substantial amount of people.

In the examples we used for the part one, we mentioned online companies who have users in their millions because their product or service was appealing to them or rather was very helpful to them.

You don’t have to be as big as this to succeed.

Can My Idea Help Millions of People?

Well, most of us will not be able to build online companies with millions of users but we can use the same principles to build websites from ideas that can still help thousands of users and even grow it to millions too.

There are many ways to do this:

  1. Identify what people may want by observing problems or situations online or offline
  2. Find what people are already looking for online

Try Something New That Will Help People Solve an Obvious Need in a New Way

Many times entrepreneurs have built websites that have grown to millions of users by observing the problems that exist online or by trying something totally new that have helped people solve obvious problems and have become very useful in the process.

By identifying the primary and obvious need for people to communicate, twitter was founded and is now very useful in so many ways.

It is so useful that the online giants like Google, MSN and the rest have rushed to sign deals with them.

What Are People Looking For?

Another way of identifying what people want is researching what people are searching for.

By that I mean find out what people are already searching for on the web. This can be done by using free tools like www.freewords.wordtracker.com or the free tool by  Google Adwords free tool

These tools will give number of times keywords are searched online. The higher the number of searches the more people you can help.

This tools will reveal to you what people want and can help you know how many people you can help or will need your help.

2 SIMPLE QUESTIONS THAT CAN MAKE YOU MILLIONS ON THE INTERNET pt1

If you can answer these questions or if your business or business model can answer these questions then you are likely on the best path to success.

In fact, these questions should be answered first before your venture into planning and thinking of what business you can do online.

Let’s start with the first one.

WHO ARE YOU HELPING OR WHO CAN YOU HELP

Ask yourself that? Ask your business? Ask your website?

Now, let me ask you?

Who is your blog helping? Who is your website helping? Or maybe you should ask who your website is going to help. If you have a good answer to this then you are on the right path.

There is a little secret –everyone making money online or is making any impact on the internet is HELPING SOMEONE.

If your blog, website cannot is not helping someone then, start thinking again.

Okay, let’s do a little case study.

Let’s look at the top websites on the internet right now or you could look at the top 10 websites in your country.

We that get that information from Alexa.com, a website that helps you get information about websites on the internet.

The top 10 websites as at the time of this writing were:

  1. google.com
  2. facebook.com
  3. yahoo.com
  4. youtube.com
  5. live.com
  6. wikipedia.com
  7. blogger.com
  8. MSN.com
  9. baidu.com
  10. yahoo.co.jp

Now, let’s look at these sites and see what help they are giving to people.

  1. Google.com –helps people search the web and helps people with email and other products
  2. FaceBook.com – helps people connect with friends and makes new friends
  3. yahoo.com – helps people send and receive email and use many other products and services
  4. YouTube.com – helps people to finds entertainment and information in video
  5. Live.com –helps people search the web and much more
  6. wikipedia.com –helps people find any kind of information about anything in the world
  7. blogger.com –helps people blog or have a web presence at no cost
  8. MSN.com –helps people search the web and other provides other products and services
  9. Baidu.com –helps people in china search the web
  10. Yahoo.co.jp- helps the Japanese send and receive emails in their language

So you see, all these websites are on top because they help people (and with many other reasons).

To start a website or blog that does not or will not help people is a project heading for failure.

There is no negotiation or going back on this, you website or blog or whatever online project you are doing must help people. It must help people do something, learn something, buy something, know something, get something.

If your project or your idea is not helping someone or cannot help someone then forget it.
